PADI Rebreather Instructor Trainer Rubens Monaco from IDC Scuba in Portsea came to Sydney to conduct the PADI Advanced Rebreather Qualifier Programme for PADI Technical Diving Division Team Members Dan Macherel and Thomas Knedlik. The Rebreather Qualifier program allows certified rebreather divers to qualify on an additional rebreather (Type R) at either Rebreather Diver or Advanced Rebreather Diver level depending upon their current rebreather diver qualification.
During the programme the diver completes a Knowledge Review which refreshes the basic information learnt during the PADI Rebreather Diver and PADI Advanced Rebreather Diver training. The Practical Applications allow users to learn specific information and skills relating to the new rebreather regarding assembly, disassembly, pre dive checks and maintenance and the open water dives provide skill practice, time and experience on the specific rebreather for which qualification is being sought. Emphasis is on practicing the correct method for these skills on the new rebreather and gaining experience using these skills.
The Hollis Explorer is unique in using a single gas (Enriched Air Nitrox) and is electronically controlled to achieve an optimal balance of PPO2 and dive time. An easy guided setup with go or no go, CO2 tracking, and 2 hour design duration make this a very suitable rebreather for any recreational diver.
Well, as you can see the boys had fun on the unit! Thanks to Rubens and Hollis (AUP).
