Cambrian Foundation at Work

The Cambrian Foundation contined its North Florida Springs project, gather biological samples from select caves. Among other areas, project research Dr. Rima Franklin is studying extremophile bacteria that support low energy chemosythetic biospheres (environments supported by chemical energy instead of light energy). The project takes Foundation divers, which include PADI Instructor Renee Power and TDD Director of Decompression Diving Karl Shreeves, into small, challenging caves that are normally closed to diving.

The Foundation has access for the project under State of Florida permit. In this video, the dive team gathers samples in DeLeon Spring, which is off limits to even cave divers for obvious reasons.
