The new TecRec courses in the Red Sea – From 0-100m in 26°C
Where can I do this?
Red Sea Diving College, together with PURE, is offering world class Tec diving in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. All year round we have perfect visibility and nice comfortable water temperatures. You won’t get bored during your deco as the stops are usually out on the reef with superb corals and fish life to keep you interested.
The warm water and low stress levels imposed by the excellent visibility means the diver can plan for less narcosis and head down a little deeper. Due to the good visibility it’s possible to make deep wall and canyon drift dives. The underwater scenery is impressive with stunning canyons, arches, caves and sea mounts in addition to pristine wrecks over 30m.

we offer the full tec deep courses in the TecRec range. come to cyprus and enjoy technical diving in the warm waters of sunny cyprus. once you are certiffied you can dive one of the worlds best wrecks, the zenobia. instead of just breifly seeing her you can extend your dive, from top to bottom. for more information on all padi courses from try dive to try tec dive and beyound.

Do all your technical training in sidemount equipment configuration. If you do not know what sidemount is then you need to find out, using a twinset is soon to be a thing of the past!

When I first became certified as a TecRec diver, I found it really hard to do anything with the certification. I contacted various dive centres that told me they just did tec training, then I tried a few boats but they generally needed a group to put an expedition together. And expedition leaders were unhappy to accept an unknown diver. A bit of a Catch 22.
So to continue my tec diving, and dive sites other then ‘training sites’ I bought a boat, MV Trident, to offer training on ‘real’ tec diving sites and also places for certified tec divers. The concept has been very sucessful with tec divers, including some of the big names of tec diving, coming from all over the world to dive with us , alongside the newbie teccies we train ourselves. A great side-benefit to me was seeeing how divers from diffrent enviroments dive so I was able to extend my training without going anywhere!
Most divers bring their own equipment and certainly all CCR divers bring their own unit, and that’s interesting too.
In the last 5 years we’ve explored the Gulf of Thailand, finding hundreds of wrecks, with about a third worth returning to, and that’s become an important part of our training too, conducting the search, finding the wreck, deploying lines, deco station etc and organising the dives are just as important as the dive itself. We also teach Gas Blending on each expedition.
I strongly believe that tec diving isn’t just diving deeper and longer than the recreational divers on the same boat, it may pull the birds but it doesn’t prepare divers for their future tec diving.
At the end of 2010 MV Trident is going to be retired to be replaced with a similar but much newer boat in April 2011, we’ll be running eight trips through to October.
In the monsoon season ( Nov to March) we run tec day trips to keep our regulars current, and we explore Thailand’s freshwater cave systems. These are open to both experienced cave divers and newbies ( like me! )

Tec Dive sites: Bali Indonesia
Menjangan Island has healthy coral walls which continue down to depths beyond the reach of single-tank dives. The white sand and bright sunlight makes these walls ideal places for tek dive. The walls continue down to around 60 meters, with the added bonus of the remains of a wooden shipwreck in the 40 – 50 meter range. Good marine life.
The ‘Drop Off’ dive site at Tulamben has been dived down to 70 meters. In fact some lucky diver may one day come across the umbilical cord of our Divemaster’s first child buried down there. It has healthy corals, huge Sea Fans, and Hammerheads have been sighted there.
Another Tulamben dive site – Batu Kelebit – has healthy corals starting at around 30 meters and continuing down past 60 meters, with a wide range of marine life.
Nearly all these sites follow slopes down & back, so allowing very comfortable shallow water decompression in the warm waters (25° – 30°C) of tropical Bali.
Dive with double tanks to the deeper ends of these sites and you’ll be one of the first divers to do so

I did my my nitrox course in northern sweden working for the diving magazine Undervattensmagasinet – Michael Menduno from Aquacorps writing some articles for as during that time and i thought i sounded amazing. Wreck diving in the atlantic, cave diving in florida etc. Then working as a PADI Course Director i had the opportunity to take some tech courses once again. Peter and Jamie from Trident took me out and got me truly excited about diving again. This lead to the opening of Bans Tec that is a part of Bans 5-Star CDC Center on Koh Tao. We completed technical training, IT orienation with George Weckmann and Intro Cave and Full Cave with other organisation to be able to teach Dist DSAT/Tec Rec in Khao Sok etc in Thailand. To enroll in the ‘PADI Tec Rec’ technical diving courses you must understand the requirements and the additional risks you are taking by learning and doing such dives. There are various levels to start your education to become a technical diver.
Tec 40
This is the first level and introduction into the field if technical diving. At this level you will be making the transition from a recreational diver to a technical diver. As a qualified Tec 40 diver you will be able to plan and execute decompression dives to a depth of 40 metres, while breathing from an additional decompression gas up to 50% EAN.
Tec 45
In this course, you will learn how to dive with the full standardised technical diving rig, including another deco cylinder. At the end of the course you will be qualified to organise and conduct decompression dives to 45 metres and accelerated decompression using EANx and/or oxygen.
Tec 50
This qualification as a technical diver represents competency in technical diving. The Tec 50 diver is qualified to plan, and execute dives to 50 metres using air, EANx and Oxygen to make extended, accelerated decompression dives.
EANx and Trimix Gasblender Courses available for User and Instructor levels.

I have three spaces left in a PADI Tec 40 Course running from April 16th – April 20th, in sunny Key Largo FL at Silent World Dive Center.
If you’re interested in technical diving, then this is where it all begins. Tec 40 is part 1 of a 3 part PADI program that turns you into a full blown technical diver. It is also conducted as a stand alone course for recreational divers wishing to extend there bottom time and use double tanks and stage bottles.
You must:
• Be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization)
• Be a PADI Enriched Air Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization)
• Be a PADI Deep Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization)
• Have a minimum of 30 logged dives, of which at least 10 dives were made with enriched air nitrox deeper than 18 metres / 60 feet.
• Have a medical form signed by your physician
If you lack of the of the enrollment requirements I would be happy to work with you before the Intro Tec course start date to complete your enrollment requirements before the start of the course.

DSAT Tec 40
In this course you will learn:
- Handle the decompression dive computer and software for planning dives and dive up to
40m (not deeper) with decompression, which is longer than 10 min.
- Handle a decompression bottle (stage), which must include a percentage of oxygen over
50% (EANX 50%) to increase safety of dives with decompression.
Requirements:
- At least Advanced Open Water Diver certification or equivalent to other associations
- A certified Enriched Air Diver or equivalent to other associations
- Have a Deep Diver certification or equivalent to other associations
- At least 50 registered dives of:
- 10 dives oxygen-enriched or

In this course you will learn:

speed up and increase safety during decompression stops
- You will have no time limit as far as decompression
- You will acquire knowledge to solve predictable problems in technical diving
- Handle the basic techniques and procedures for the move to greater depths in technical
diving
Requirements:
- At least Advanced Open Water Diver certification or equivalent to other associations
- Be a Rescue Diver or equivalent to other associations
- Be Enriched Air Diver or equivalent to other associations
- Be Deep Diver or equivalent to other associations
- Be Tec 40 or equivalent other associations
- At least 50 registered dives of which:
- 12 dives over 18m with enriched oxygen (NITROX) and
- 6 dives (with or without EANX) over 30 m

DSAT Tec TRIMIX 65
This course refers to the use of TRIMIX, which increases the limit of depth for those who are already trained on the use of air, enriched air (NITROX) and oxygen in technical dives, so moving the diving limit from 50 m to 65 m depth in the open water, using a mixture containing TRIMIX with percentage of oxygen of not less than 18%. During the course of the training you learn to assess and handle problems that occur when using helium in the mix at the maximum depth and plan dives with decompression using a TRIMIX mixture.
Duration: 4 days
Max depth: 65 m
Number of dives: a minimum of 5
Required certifications: Rescue Diver, DSAT Tec Diver 50 (or equivalent of other associations) and proof of CPR Certificate and First Aid in the last 2 years
Min. Age: 18
Min. number of registered dives: 100
Requires a medical certificate of fitness for diving, which is not older than one year.
DSAT Tec Trimix Diver
On this course you gain a deep knowledge of the use of helium in the mix for the bottom. The program is tailored to technical divers who want to go over the limit norm toxic trimix, analyzing multiple types of decompression software to create specific plans and decompression tables. For the duration of the course and training, the instructor will introduce the diver in the concept of a mixture of hypo toxic trimix. For the duration of the dive, the diver will also learn to handle multiple decompression bottles.
At the end of the course, the participant will be qualified to dive to a depth of 75 m using different trimix mixtures, air, enriched air (NITROX) and oxygen. For the duration of the course equipment with an open system in the technical configuration is used as well as all procedures required for handling risks associated with this activity.

Max depth: 75 m
Number of dives: a minimum of 8

We would like to thank all our students for an amazing 2011. This year we been teaching technical courses in Dahab, Eilat, Sweden and Iceland and conducted expeditions and explorations in many areas of the world. We became the first dive team to ever dived the US Coast Guard Cutter Alexander Hamilton at a depth of 95 meters, 40 km outside Reykjavik and explored the cave systems in Mexico to mentioned a few.

Lancaster Scuba Center is proud to be a PADI Tec Center and offering the full range of PADI DSAT Tec Courses. Technical training is completed in local Quarrys, St. Lawrence River, Atlantic Ocean from NY down to VA Beach, and on trips to FL.
Our Instructor has been teaching Tec Diving since 2003. Continuing education and keeping up with the current information on Tec Diving and Decompression has been an ongoing commitment. Not only does he teach Tec Diving he also spends his time Tec diving for fun and practice.
We offer courses from Discover Tec through Tec Trimix. If you have a Tec Certification from another Agency we will work with you to figure out at what level you can come into the PADI Tec.

Team Blue Immersion @ Dahab Divers Technical is a TecRec Instructor Training Award center and is dedicated to tec only. We are the premiere TecRec Technical Center in Dahab, Egypt, and invite TecRec Instructors and divecenters to bring their students or guided tec groups to come and dive and teach through us. We offer deals where you keep 100% of the course fee and guiding fee. We only charge for gas and transport to the sites.
We dive CCR, Sidemount and backmount and always got helium and O2 on stock and have all tec equipment for rent in our facility if needed. We are equipped with boosters for savings on the gas bill and large Bauer compressors. We are located just a few meters from Lighthouse for easy access to training sites and Bluehole, Canyons, Abu Helal etc is just 15 minutes drive.
