Tec Snorkeler
Given recent developments in equipment (see below), there could be a market for a new course — what do you think? Are we missing out on any other important areas for course development?

Future of technical diving?

Is this the September 1st press release for the new programs? Is this really the place for that image… sigh

As a PADI Master Instructor and a Tek Instructor for other agencies. I find this a little disappointing that you feel the need to promote this type on non sense when you’re introducing new programs. Even with the free cross over incentive, I don’t really want to be associated with this as the future of Tech Diving. This just isn’t the place for that silliness.

ohh comon… give me a break…. This is what disappoints you? A picture of a guy with 2 snorkels on a blog for tec diving… seriously… that is what disappoints you???
Maybe its that kind of mentality that give us tec divers a bad name… but then again you probably dont even know what im talkin about.

Are we missing out….. Yes, we do! Compared to 1996 when Rebreathers for Sport Divers became available, in reasonable pricing, now we have more than twenty different of them on the market. Rebreathers WILL make their way throughout recreational diving, but they really play out their biggest advantages while technical diving!!!! A lot of pro’s did realize this fact and offering advanced technical diving on rebreathers. More and more “Rebreather friendly” Dive Centres are coming up. Not embracing Rebreather recreational as well as technical diving will lead to – we are missing out!!!

I agree with Nickolai,
I have been tec diving with customers for the past two months and only done two OC tec dives and 4 SCR dives during this period…all the rest CCR dives…I am completing a TDI Instructor course on my unit so I can meet this demand…its a shame that DSAT are slow on the uptake on this…Im not talking recreational rebreathers here…I personally think that recreational divers (as we term them) shouldnt be allowed within 10m of a rebreather whether SCR or CCR! But the advantage with tec diving is clear!
Once divers start to venture into tec diving they gain a lot more respect for their equipment! This is where rebreather diving should be introduced an be integral in the tec programs…

Hmmm,
Could do with orange wraps on the snorkel tops, could only then possibly do the trimix snorkelling course (as long as you’re not boringly serious).
Perhaps a tec anorak course could be investigated for the serious?

A trimix snorkeling course would be awesome! But where are the MOD wraps?!!!!

Why doesn’t anyone discuss the long awaited Discover Rebreather Snorkler.
DRS is going to be excellent due to long bottomtimes for beginners.
